During this first Autumn term, we have been discovering all about a contempory artist called Sandra Silberzweig. She is Canadian and creates portraits using various colours and patterns.
We started by drawing a self-portrait from memory. Then, we drew one using a mirror and coloured in it. Following that, we drew one in the style of Sandra Silberzweig. Finally, we looked at all the colours she used, chose our own and created different patterns.
When we finished, we created an ‘art gallery’ in the classroom and went around ‘viewing’ each piece that had been created. It was fabulous.
We have also been studying the continents of the world and the oceans they are surrounded by. To do this, we had to use atlases. These told us a great deal of information.
