Fruit & Milk
The Government has introduced a National School Fruit Scheme. Under this scheme each child receives a free piece of fruit each day. The scheme is voluntary and there us no obligation for your child to take part. If you do not wish your child to participate in this scheme please let us know in writing. Although fruit allergies are rare, please inform school if your child does have an allergy, so that we can ensure they are not given anything which will harm them.
We also offer a slice of toast at morning break this is ordered and payable every half term in advance and is £1.00 per week BUT MUST be paid for the whole term and no refunds are given. This is purely due to the fact that supplies have to be purchased in advance and the amount of admin time involved.
A new school funding framework was introduced for the financial year 2013/14 onwards. Therefore, from 1 April 2013 funding for the provision of mid-morning milk was delegated to Lancashire primary schools, primary academies, special schools and short stay schools.
Decisions about whether to provide mid-morning milk and the appropriate charging and remissions policy now rest with each school.
Here at St Leonards we use ‘Cool Milk’ as our supplier for school milk, parents have to register and make payment direct to the supplier if you wish their child to have milk in school.
The cost of milk for the whole school year is approx £39.00 and is payable in advance. Leaflets are available from the school office or you can access Cool Milk’s website at www.coolmilk.com
Please note milk is only available to infant children. Children who are entitled to free school meals will receive free milk but will still need to register with ‘Cool Milk’. Children are also entitled to free milk from starting school until the term that they turn 5.
Please direct any queries to Mrs Hatch in the school office.
