  • Canada Class

Tue 20 Sep 2022 Mrs Lambert

Canada class were very lucky this morning. One of our children brought a book to school which was given to her Grandad when he was a little boy. The book was given to school children to celebrate the Queen's Coronation in 1953. Gracie was very proud to bring the book in to show to the class and we are all very grateful to her family for allowing her to do so. What a wonderful primary source of history for us to share.

  • Year 1 Spain

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

Welcome back to a new school year! We have had a great first full week back in Spain class! We have been learning our new text map which is the story of ‘Billy’s Beetle’. We have been learning to count to 10 both forwards and backwards in maths. In history, we have been learning about the past and about our great monarch Queen Elizabeth II. In PSHE, we have been discussing places we feel safe. We have worked really hard on our recognition board target of ‘Ready Rockstars’. The children loved having adult visitors for ‘Meet the Teacher’ on Wednesday.

  • Year 6

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

The children in Year 6 have had a fantastic start to their year and we are very proud of how quickly they have got into the routines and the responsibility they have shown when undertaking their new jobs.

We have been researching information about China such as landmarks, food, animals and inspirational people; the children decided what they wanted to draw relating to our class country.

Our first, full week back has been very busy:
In English, the children have worked hard to learn our defeating the monster story - The Tibicena.

In science, we have started learning about veins, arteries and the heart.

The children enjoyed their PE lesson with Mr Barry on Monday.
On Wednesday, China Class loved having adult visitors for Meet The Teacher and enjoyed the chopstick challenge, drawing dragons and the China quiz.
On Friday, the children met and spent time with their buddies from England class. They all played very well and we were very proud of how responsible Year 6 were.

  • Year Two News

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

All of the children have settled brilliantly into Year 2. We are so proud of them all.

We have been learning about Egyptian Pharaohs and transformed a picture of ourselves into a pharaoh. We have also been learning about Egyptian hieroglyphics and enjoyed writing our name using these symbols.

We have started to learn our new text - Handa's Noisy Night. We have been writing descriptive sentences about the hut that Handa lives in and some children tried to include a simile!

In art, we have been looking at the work of Paul Cezanne. The children imitated his still life painting of a fruit bowl and did a fantastic job. See the pictures below.

  • Canada Class

Fri 09 Sep 2022 Mrs Lambert

What a wonderful first full week back we have had in class. The children have settled back in superbly and have been eager to learn. We have learned lots about Canada and we all enjoyed sharing our learning on Wednesday morning. The children have learned lots of facts about the artist that we are studying this term - Antoni Guardi. In maths, we have been learning about place value and the value of the digits in a 4-digit number. The children are very excited to begin swimming again too. We have had a very busy but fun-filled start to the term.

Following the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we had a very interesting class discussion about the monarchy and the new King. The children were really sensible with the questions that they asked and we researched some answers that myself or the other staff could not answer. We are all looking forward to a fun filled half term of amazing learning.

Mrs Lambert ant the Year 4 staff.

  • Brazil Class

    Thu 08 Sep 2022

We have had such a fantastic start to Brazil class. The children have settled in well, learning routines and expectations quickly; we are so proud of them! We have learnt about Brazil including, famous people, the rainforest and the carnival. We made our own carnival masks ready for the Rio Carnival and completed some artwork of rainforest animals using pastels.

On Wednesday, we had some parents, carers and grandparents join us in class. This was very exciting for the children, who enjoyed sharing their learning and the new classroom!

In English, we are focusing on journey stories. The children have worked hard to learn our text: Race Against Time.

In History, we have started learning about WW2 and what it was like to be an evacuee. The children have shown a great interest in this topic. We began the unit by looking at different sources and discussing what they told us about evacuees and their reliability.

A busy but brilliant start to the new school year!
