  • Year 6

    Fri 22 Jul 2022

The year 6 children have had an amazing half term.  They have continued to work hard in lessons, including making their carousel in DT.  They have organised and run Enterprise Day in order to raise funds for their Leavers' events and also for Evan, the child we sponsor.

They have practised very hard for the Leavers' Service; enjoyed our 'Festival on the Field'; relaxed with a spa afternoon; signed shirts and brought in games to enjoy with friends.  This morning, they were amazing in church for the Leavers' Service and lots of tears were shed by adults and children alike.

The children will leave primary school through the arch made by all the other children in school. We are sad to see them go but are sure the next step in their journey will be a fantastic one.

  • India Class

    Wed 20 Jul 2022 Miss O'Keefe

We have had a fantastic yet super busy half tem in year 3. In our english lessons, the children have all written creative stories all about a portal, they focused on setting description and what it would be like to go into another world.  We have also been trying really hard to learn how to count in our 3’s, 4’s and 8’s in maths. In our geography unit, we have been looking at the structure of the Earth and volcanos and the advantages and disadvantages of living near one. The children really enjoyed looking on Google Earth and finding active, dormant and extinct volcanos. We have also had a festive DT unit were the children designed, made and evaluated their own festive sandwich. Thank you to all the adults who made it school to taste the children’s sandwiches. We have also been exploring forces and magnets in our science unit.  The children set up investigations to test the poles on a magnet and even created their own game with just a magnet, paper clip and piece of paper.

What a great half term we have had in year 3 this term. I am looking forward to coming back in the new year and carrying on our super learning.

Merry Christmas and happy new year!

  • Enterprise Extravaganza!

    Wed 13 Jul 2022 Miss Parker-Smith

Year 2 had the most amazing time at Year 6s’ Enterprise Day today. They had some amazing games to play. Many children won stickers and prizes too! Year 6 were excellent at explaining how to take part and supporting children in each game.

  • Year 2 and Canada Class Reading

    Tue 12 Jul 2022 Miss Parker-Smith

This morning, the children came to read their ‘Hot Task’ stories to Year 2 Egypt and New Zealand children. It was lovely to sit outside on a warm summer’s day. Lovely listening, timely talking and fabulous focus carried out by all.

  • Amazing Athletics Team

    Tue 05 Jul 2022

Well done to our KS2 athletics team who won the recent athletics competition which was held at Lostock Hall Academy. The team - made up of four boys and four girls - had to compete in a long distance run, a 100m sprint, a vortex throw and a standing long jump. The event finished with a team relay race involving all eight children.

Anthony from Sports Partnership presented the medals to us in worship on Monday. The children were very excited and wore their medals proudly.
